Wilde Pop Culture References: Disney Edition

Starstruck

The Disney Channel must be wiretapping us.

Let’s begin by saying that we dubbed our apartment as “The Wilde” because of Oscar Wilde, a figure we most admire. And because it provides a creative array of cliches and puns.

Disney Channel’s latest original film, “Starstruck”, stars the adorable Sterling Cooper as Christopher Wilde, the newest and biggest teen sensation.

Wilde’s latest album is called “Something Wilde” - a catchy title we would have used had we not already coined our own catchphrase.

If you can even believe it, posters throughout the movie advertise the “Wilde World Tour”. All members of the Wilde, last fall, embarked upon our own relative world tours of Europe, as well.

Most significantly, Chris’s bedroom wall bears, we kid you not, light-up letters spelling out his name - the pop sensation version of our papier mache letters in our profile picture.

The similarities don’t end here…the characters in the movie name their inanimate objects. Wilde’s car is even named “Brittney” - coincidence? We think not.

We have always been known to appreciate an inter-racial relationship. The grandmother in this film, beyond having an interracial relationship, also has a pink Fiat-esque car named Petunia.

Watching this movie was mind-blowing - how could Disney get usso right? The only answer: wiretapping. Disney knows who we are, is secretly following us, and is using our lives as inspiration for their work.
